Vista Info: Many customers have reported using StenoCAT
32 version 5.8 successfully with the Vista Operating system
by modifying UAC settings. [Details]
Preliminary
results show that the major compatibility issues are with
court reporting hardware. There are many components
to your setup (adapters, cables, writers, etc.) that may present
issues with Vista usage.
One question
that we get a lot is whether a job created in Vista is compatible
with a job created in XP. The answer is absolutely, yes. Files
such as jobs/dictionaries/templates, etc. that are created
in StenoCAT 32 are completely compatible between operating
systems (eg. XP/Vista).
We will

If you are using
StenoCAT products and want to know more about how Microsoft's Vista
operating system affects you and your transcript production, you
have come to the right place.
Microsoft released
its Windows Vista operating system to the public January 30, 2007.
It is important to understand that the Microsoft Vista platform
is not automatically backwards-compatible with software designed
to work with Windows XP.
Despite its
apparent compatibility, StenoCAT 32 version 5.8 is not 'compliant'
with Microsoft Vista. Customers who are already using StenoCAT 32
with Windows Vista may be taking risks with unknown problems and
potential down time (not necessarily related to StenoCAT 32 itself),
and should weigh their decision to do so carefully. StenoCAT
32 versions 5.8 and older are designed for use on a 32-bit Windows
XP operating system, as described in the software license.
Gigatron is
working towards a fully Vista compatible upgrade for StenoCAT 32
and will make it available after it has been thoroughly tested to
meet the high demands of the court reporting environment.
Ultimately,
our priority — like yours — is the integrity of the transcript.

Vista Feedback:
To date, we have had mixed reviews with Windows Vista as an
operating system. Most of these issues have to do with hardware
compatibility, learning a new operating system, and some lesser
known items such as new automatic popups that may come up while
using your computer. We have not encountered any specific issues
with StenoCAT 32 version 5.8 that relate directly to Vista as long
