StenoCAT 32 versions 5.8 and older are designed for use on a 32-bit Windows XP operating system, as described in the software license. We recommend XP because of its stability, compatibility and performance in our R&D environment.

Some of our StenoCAT 32 users are or will soon be looking to upgrade/replace their notebook computers. The release of Miscrosoft Vista has made finding the a notebook with a Windows XP operating system slightly challenging -- but not impossible.

So where can you find a new notebook with Windows XP?

• Dell has a great solution for SC32 users who need to purchase a new notebook right now. According to Dell's Small Business sales department, all of their Latitude notebooks are Windows XP - equipped and will ship that way for the 'forseeable future'. [http://www.dell.com/content/products/...]
• Best Buy also has notebooks running XP that come with a free Vista upgrade by mail. So the buyer could use XP until they were ready to upgrade. [http://www.bestbuy.com/site/...]

These two have provided the easiest solutions in our inital search, although there are also other sources online, available by 'Googling' XP Notebooks. You can search most online retailers to see their XP inventory.
