| Note:
Our hardware key manufacturer has made recent key modifications which
prevent us from successfully updating older keys to run StenoCAT 32.
Therefore, home keys for older versions of StenoCAT (Spectrum, Platinum,
OPEN) will not run Stenocat 32. Please call your sales rep to purchase
a Stenocat32 Home Key Option. |

USB
Ports
|
The
Port
A Universal Serial Bus port is a fairly new port used to connect
all kinds of external devices, such as external hard drives, printers,
mice, scanners and more. There are normally two half-inch long USB
ports on the back of computers built since 1998. Sometimes there are
USB ports built into a hatch on the front of a computer. |
 |
The
Key
The USB hardware key is about the size of your thumb, and attaches
to one of the USB ports on your system. It does not utilize your printer
port. With the key attached to your system, your StenoCAT software
will function normally. |

Parallel
Port Keys
|
| Parallel
ports are no longer standard issue on late model computers. |
The
Port
A parallel port is used to connect external devices such as scanners
and printers. The 25-pin port is sometimes also called a "printer"
port, or "LPT1" port. |
 |
The
Key
The parallel port hardware key attaches between the port and the printer
cable. With the key attached to your system, your StenoCAT software
will function normally. |
